The bridge mounting studs are the two pivot points the Floyd Rose Special tremolo rocks on. When the knife edges wear a groove into a stud, the bridge binds instead of returning cleanly to centre. When a stud works loose in its insert, the whole pivot point shifts under string tension. These are the Floyd Rose Special Series replacement studs — hardened steel, black nickel finish, sold as a set of two.

Fit is decided by the insert already pressed into your body, not by the bridge. Stud diameter varies between the Special Series and other Floyd Rose series, and again between metric and imperial specifications. If the insert in your guitar does not match these studs, forcing them in will strip the insert — and pulling a press-fit insert is a bench job, not a string-change. Measure your existing stud or identify your insert before ordering. If you are not certain which series your bridge belongs to, do not guess.

The studs are hardened steel. That matters because the knife edges bear directly on them under full string tension. A softer stud wears faster than the knife edges and becomes the failure point. Once a stud develops a groove deep enough to catch, no amount of knife-edge dressing gets the bridge moving freely again.
