Description

These are the pivot studs the Floyd Rose Special series bridge rocks on — the two posts that thread into the body inserts and carry the knife edges of the baseplate. When studs wear oval at the contact point, or when a previous owner has swapped in mismatched hardware, the bridge loses its pivot geometry and return-to-pitch suffers regardless of how well the rest of the system is set up. This set of two replaces both studs at once.

Whether these fit your guitar is decided by the inserts already pressed into the body, not by the bridge itself. Stud and insert diameters vary between the Special series and other Floyd Rose lines, and between metric and imperial routing. If the insert in your body was cut for a different spec, this stud will not seat correctly — and pulling a body insert is a bench job, not a string change. Before ordering, confirm the inserts in your guitar are Special series spec. If you are not certain, measure the insert bore and the existing stud shank and compare. Do not guess.

The studs are hardened steel in a satin black finish, matching the Special series hardware. Hardened steel at the pivot point matters because the knife edges bear the full tension load of the springs and strings at a single contact line — soft metal wears fast and throws the pivot off centre.

If you are not sure this is the correct stud for your guitar, send us the make, model and year and we will check it against what we have on the bench.
