The sustain block is the brass slug that hangs below the base plate and takes the string tension into the body. When one cracks, strips, or needs swapping for a different material, this is the part. This is the Floyd Rose Special series replacement block, part number FRS2TB37P, made in Germany. It is nickel-plated brass, 37mm in length.

Before ordering, measure your cavity clearance and check your base plate's mounting pattern. The block length has to clear the body cavity at full dive — 37mm is specific, and a millimetre or two in the wrong direction means the block bottoms out before the arm does, or leaves the springs sitting at the wrong angle. The screw pattern on this block has to match the base plate it is going into. If you are swapping from a different Floyd Rose series, do not assume it bolts straight in.

Brass sits between zinc and steel in terms of attack character — it has more sustain than zinc and a softer initial transient than steel. That said, material affects tone, not fit. Fit is decided entirely by block length and screw pattern.
