The sustain block is the weighted brass mass that hangs below the base plate and takes the string tension into the body cavity. When a block cracks, strips its string saddle threads, or simply needs replacing to change the feel of the attack, this is the part. This is the Floyd Rose Special replacement block, part number FRS2TB32P, made in nickel-plated brass at 32mm.
Before ordering, measure your cavity clearance and confirm the mounting screw pattern on your existing base plate. Block length has to clear the cavity — too long and the block bottoms out mid-dive, too short and the springs sit at the wrong angle and the geometry is off. The mounting holes have to line up with the base plate this block is designed for, which is the Floyd Rose Special series plate. Neither of those checks can be skipped. The 32mm size is the figure that matters most; if your current block is a different length, this one will not restore the correct geometry.
The block is nickel-plated brass. Brass is denser than the zinc pot-metal blocks found on lower-specification units. That density affects the attack character and sustain, though it does not change whether the block physically fits your cavity.
If you are not certain this is the correct block for your guitar, send us the make, model and year and we will check it.
