Description

These are the screws that clamp the string retainer bar to the headstock behind the locking nut. When one strips, rounds out, or goes missing, the retainer bar can shift or sit at the wrong height — and a retainer that sits wrong changes the break angle over the nut. That means strings that pull out of the nut under a hard dive, or a nut that buzzes because the strings are not pressing down cleanly. This is a direct replacement: steel, gold finish, Floyd Rose Original series, sold as a set of two.

The break angle over the locking nut is not decorative. It has to be steep enough that string tension holds the string seated in the nut block when you dive the bar, but not so steep that string travel is choked on the way to the tuning machine. The retainer screw height sets that angle. These screws are spec'd for the Floyd Rose Original series — mounting hole spacing is specific to that system, so confirm the system on your guitar before ordering. If the retainer on your guitar uses a different screw thread or a different hole layout, these will not fit regardless of finish.

The screws are steel with a gold PVD or plated finish to match Original series hardware. Steel retainer screws strip most often at the head when someone has been using the wrong driver size. If the head on the existing screw is already chewed, pull it before it damages the threaded insert in the headstock.

If you are not certain which Floyd Rose series is fitted to your guitar, send us the make, model and year and we will confirm the right part before you order.
