Description

The string retainer bar sits behind the locking nut and pulls the strings down into the nut slots at the correct break angle. Without enough downward pressure at the nut, strings lift out of the saddles during a deep dive and the bridge stops returning to pitch. This is the Floyd Rose Original series steel retainer, chrome finish, supplied with its mounting screws.

Fit depends on two things. First, the break angle: the retainer has to press the strings down firmly enough that they seat fully in the nut under heavy arm use. If a previous retainer was shimmed to a different height, this replacement changes that angle — check the string seat before locking the nut. Second, the mounting hole spacing is specific to the Original series. If your guitar already carries a Floyd Rose Original locking nut, the holes will line up. If it was built around a different series or a licensed copy, measure the spacing on your headstock before ordering.

Steel construction. The most common failure mode on retainers is stripped screw threads in the headstock wood rather than a broken retainer itself — this replacement comes with fresh screws, which matters if the originals have been over-torqued.

If you are not certain this is the right retainer for your guitar, send us the make, model and year and we will confirm before you order.
