The arm housing is the threaded collar that receives the tremolo arm. When the threads strip or the housing cracks, the arm either wobbles in its socket or will not seat at all. This is a direct replacement housing for Floyd Rose Non-Fine Tuner systems, old style, in chrome-plated hardened steel.
Fit is series-specific. Floyd Rose produced multiple tremolo generations, and parts that look identical between them are often cut to different dimensions — they will not interchange. Before ordering, confirm that the system already installed in your guitar is a Floyd Rose Non-Fine Tuner unit. If you are not certain which system is in your guitar, measure the existing housing and check the bridge plate before you buy.
The housing is hardened steel. That matters because a soft housing will round out its own threads under repeated arm insertion and removal. When a hardened housing fails it tends to crack rather than strip gradually, so the failure mode is usually sudden and obvious.
