The base plate is the structural core of the Floyd Rose Original 7-string system — the part that saddles, sustain block, tension plates and string-lock hardware all bolt to. This is the FR7TBPGP replacement plate in gold finish, hardened steel, for the Original series.
Whether this plate fits your guitar comes down to two things: series and string count. The knife edges are machined into this plate, and they are the first thing to go on a well-used Floyd — once they round over, the bridge loses its pivot point and no amount of spring tension or setup adjustment brings it back. When that happens, the plate has to come out. What goes back in has to be Original series and 7-string. Saddles, blocks, tension plates and string-lock hardware from the standard 6-string Original or from any other Floyd series are cut to different dimensions and do not transfer over. Match both.
This plate is hardened steel with a gold finish. The hardening is what the knife edges depend on — softer material wears faster and the pivot degrades sooner. If the previous plate failed at the edges, check the posts and inserts for wear before the new plate goes in.
Not sure this is the right plate for your guitar — send us the make, model and year and we will confirm before you order.
