Description

The base plate is the structural core of a Floyd Rose Original tremolo — the saddles bolt to it, the sustain block hangs below it, the knife edges sit on top of it. When those knife edges round over from years of contact with the pivot studs, the bridge stops returning to centre and no setup adjustment fixes it. This plate, part number FR7TBPCP, is the direct replacement for a Floyd Rose Original 7-String system in chrome.

Fit is not flexible here. The knife edges are machined into the plate itself, and the geometry of the Original series is specific to that series. The saddle inserts, sustain block, tension plates and string-lock hardware from a 7-string Original are cut and drilled for this plate and not for any other. Before ordering, confirm you are running a Floyd Rose Original — not a Special, 1000 series or licensed variant — and confirm the 7-string configuration. A plate from the wrong series or wrong string count will not accept your existing hardware.

This plate is hardened steel with a chrome finish, matching the construction and specification of the original Floyd Rose German manufacturing. Hardened steel at the knife edges matters because that is the contact point taking the full string tension load every time the arm returns to rest. A softer plate rounds over faster; a replacement in the same spec buys the same service life as the original.

If you are not certain this is the right plate for your guitar, send us the make, model and year and we will confirm before you order.
