This is the locking nut for a 7-string Floyd Rose Original system — the hardened steel block that clamps all seven strings at the headstock end once the bridge has been set to pitch. Without a functional locking nut, fine tuners can only do so much; the string slips at the headstock and the whole system drifts. This is the factory-matched replacement for that nut, finished in gold and made in Germany to Original Series spec.
Fit is the part that trips people up. A locking nut has to match two things: the width of the slot routed into your neck, and the radius of your fretboard. Get either one wrong and you will fight it forever — too flat a radius and the outer strings sit proud of the saddle blocks, too narrow and the strings crowd the fretboard edge. Floyd Rose sizes these nuts by width code (R2, R3, R4 and so on), and the right code for your guitar is not something to guess from the model name alone. Measure the nut slot width on your existing nut before ordering.
The nut is hardened steel throughout, which matters on a 7-string — the wider span puts more leverage on the clamping blocks and the saddle surface wears faster on softer material. The gold finish matches Original Series gold hardware sets.
If you are not certain this is the right size for your neck, send us the make, model and year of your guitar and we will check it against what we have on the bench.
