The FR7NCP is Floyd Rose's Original Series locking nut for seven-string guitars, finished in chrome. It clamps the strings at the headstock end of the neck, locking the string break point so the tremolo can return to pitch. Without a functioning locking nut, even a perfectly set-up Floyd Rose bridge will not hold tune through hard use. This is a genuine Floyd Rose part, made in Germany from hardened steel.
Fit is determined by two things: the width of your nut slot and the radius of your fretboard. These are not interchangeable variables. Floyd Rose sizes its locking nuts by a width designation — R2, R3, R4 and so on — and the wrong size will either crowd the outer strings toward the fretboard edge or leave them sitting proud, producing a buzz you cannot adjust away. Do not guess from the guitar model. Pull the existing nut and measure the slot width and the fretboard radius before ordering.
The body is hardened steel. That matters because the clamping blocks bear direct string tension under repeated locking and unlocking cycles. A softer material wears at the block faces and the screw seats, eventually failing to hold string pitch. The chrome finish on the FR7NCP is matched to the Original Series bridge hardware.
If you are not certain this is the right nut for your guitar, send us the make, model and year and we will confirm the fit before you order.
