This is the center clamping block for a Floyd Rose Original 7-string locking nut. The clamping block is the piece that sits in the nut body and bears directly against the strings when the locking screw is tightened. If yours is stripped, cracked or lost, the nut will not hold string tension behind the clamp and the bridge becomes the only thing keeping the strings in tune — which it was not designed to do alone.

Before ordering, confirm this block is for a 7-string Floyd Rose Original locking nut. A locking nut has to match both the neck width at the nut slot and the fretboard radius. Close-but-wrong buzzes forever: too flat a radius and the outer strings sit proud, too narrow and the strings crowd the edge of the fretboard. Floyd Rose sizes its nuts by width — R2, R3, R4 and so on — so measure your existing nut before ordering rather than guessing from the guitar model. The center block from a 6-string nut will not fit a 7-string nut body, and the 7-string part will not drop into a 6-string body.

The block is hardened steel with a chrome finish, matching the Original series hardware. Hardened steel matters here because the clamping screw torques directly against this surface every time you lock down — softer material deforms and loses grip over time, which is how most worn blocks end up on this shelf in the first place.
