The Floyd Rose FRT500 is a complete Original Series double-locking tremolo system in black nickel. It ships as a kit: bridge, saddles, block, locking nut, springs and claw, mounting studs, and all installation hardware. The double-locking design clamps the strings at both the nut and the bridge, which is the mechanical reason a Floyd Rose holds pitch through heavy use in a way that a standard vibrato cannot.
String count and mounting style decide whether this part fits your guitar before anything else does. This is a 6-string unit — it will not work on a 7- or 8-string instrument. Beyond string count, the existing route in the body is what determines whether this drops in or whether the guitar goes on the bench first. A recessed installation requires a rear body cavity and specific stud spacing; a guitar currently fitted with a non-locking bridge almost certainly needs routing, not just a parts swap. Measure your stud spacing and check your existing cavity dimensions against the FRT500 specs before ordering.
Materials are drawn from the source facts: the base plate and saddles are hardened steel, the tremolo block is nickel-plated brass, the arm is stainless steel, and the springs are coiled steel. The black nickel finish is on the externally visible hardware. The block material matters if you are replacing a unit in an existing cavity — brass runs slightly heavier than steel alternatives, so block length has to clear the cavity floor.
