The string retainer bar sits between the locking nut and the headstock tuners. Its job is mechanical: it pulls the strings down over the nut at enough of an angle that the locking blocks can grip them cleanly. Without that angle, a hard dive will lift a string out of the nut mid-song. This is the Floyd Rose 1000 Series retainer, steel construction with a satin chrome finish, and it ships with its mounting screws.

Fit is decided by two things. First, the break angle: the retainer has to pull the strings low enough over the nut that they seat under load, but the height also has to be right for your headstock geometry — swap in a different-height shim and you change that angle. Second, the mounting hole spacing is specific to the 1000 Series. If your guitar is running a different Floyd Rose series, this retainer will not line up. Check what series is stamped on your tremolo block before ordering.

The bar is steel. That matters because this part takes the full string load every time the nut is locked down. A softer metal deforms at the contact edge over time and the break angle drifts. If your current retainer is showing a groove worn into the underside, that is the failure mode this replacement addresses.
