The locking nut clamps the strings at the headstock end of the neck, taking them out of the tuning equation once the machine heads are set and the fine-tuners at the bridge are doing the work. Without a functioning nut clamp, the floating bridge has nothing solid to anchor against and the system will not hold pitch. Fit is decided by two things: the width of your existing nut slot and the radius of your fretboard. Floyd Rose designates nut widths by size code — R2, R1, R3, R4 and so on. This part is an R3. If you order by guitar model rather than by measuring the actual nut, you are guessing. Too narrow and the outer strings crowd the fretboard edge; a radius that is too flat and the outer strings sit proud of the clamp faces and buzz regardless of how hard you torque the bolt. Pull the existing nut, measure the slot width, confirm the fretboard radius, then match both to the R3 spec before ordering.

The body is hardened steel. That matters because the clamp blocks bear directly against the strings under significant bolt load every time you lock down — softer material wears the contact faces and eventually stops clamping cleanly. The antique bronze finish is a cosmetic match for 1000 Series hardware in that colour family.
