Ibanez built the EKM100WRD as part of the EKM Signature Series, positioning it as a hollow body electric guitar within the Prestige-level tier of the Ibanez range. The Wine Red finish and figured Anigre construction placed it toward the upper end of the company's domestic production hierarchy.
The guitar was constructed with a set-in neck of African Mahogany under the EKM profile, joined to a hollow body featuring a figured Anigre top, back, and sides. The bound ebony fretboard carried acrylic and abalone block inlays and was dressed with jumbo frets finished to Prestige edge-treatment standards. The nut was cut from bone at 43mm width, with a scale length of 628mm (24.7"). Neck thickness measured 23mm at the first fret and 26mm at the twelfth, with a 305mm radius. The body measured 18¼" in length, 15¾" in width, and reached a maximum depth of 2⅝". Electronics comprised a pair of DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary humbuckers — passive, Alnico-loaded — at both neck and bridge positions. Hardware throughout was finished in gold, anchored by a Gotoh 510BN bridge at 10.4mm string spacing and a Gotoh GE101A tailpiece. The instrument left the factory strung with a .011–.052 set in standard E tuning.
Owners requiring setup work, fret maintenance, or assistance sourcing compatible hardware — including Gotoh 510BN or GE101A replacements, or DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary pickups — should consult a qualified luthier or experienced guitar technician familiar with hollow body instruments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
