Ibanez built the AS200VYS as part of the AS Artstar Series, positioning it at the upper tier of their hollow body electric line. The model carried a set-in African Mahogany neck and a figured Anigre top, back, and sides, with an ebony fretboard bound and inlaid with acrylic and abalone block markers.
Hardware throughout was finished in gold. The Gotoh 510BN bridge accepted the 10.4mm string spacing across its saddles, paired with a Gotoh GE101A tailpiece. A bone nut sat at 43mm width. Both neck and bridge positions carried Super 58 humbuckers wound with Alnico magnets in a passive circuit. Prestige fret edge treatment was applied to the 22 medium frets along a 305mm radius board, with a scale length of 628mm. The neck measured 20mm thick at the first fret and 22mm at the twelfth. The factory string gauge ran .013 through .052, reflecting the instrument's voiced-for-jazz weight.
Owners sourcing replacement parts should note the Gotoh 510BN and GE101A are independently catalogued hardware items with established aftermarket availability. For nut replacement, fretwork, or pickup configuration, a qualified luthier or guitar technician familiar with bound hollow body construction is the appropriate resource.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
