Ibanez built the RG421PFM as part of the long-running RG Series, positioning it as a fixed-bridge, high-output solid-body electric aimed at players who required the RG platform's fast neck profile without the complexity of a floating tremolo system.
The guitar featured a Meranti body paired with a Wizard III Maple neck and a Jatoba fretboard carrying white dot inlays across 24 jumbo frets. Neck dimensions measured 43mm at the nut and 58mm at the 24th fret, with a thickness of 19mm at the first fret and 21mm at the twelfth, finished to a 400mm radius — figures consistent with the shallow, flat Wizard geometry. The 648mm (25.5") scale length fed through an F106 fixed bridge set at 10.5mm string spacing. Pickup duties were handled by a pair of passive, ceramic-magnet Quantum humbuckers — one at the neck, one at the bridge — with all hardware finished in Cosmo black. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL110s (.010–.046) in standard E tuning.
Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the F106 bridge accepts strings at 10.5mm spacing, and the 43mm nut width will govern compatible replacement nuts.
