Ibanez built the FTM33WK as part of the FTM Signature Series, positioning it as an eight-string electric guitar finished in Weathered Black. The model carried the FTM designation throughout its line identity, distinguishing it from Ibanez's standard production ranges.
The neck is a seven-piece Maple and Walnut construction reinforced with KTS Titanium rods, joined to an Ash wing body. The Jatoba fretboard carries jumbo frets and has a 400mm radius, with a nut width of 55mm tapering to 80mm at the 24th fret; neck thickness measures 20mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the twelfth. The 27-inch (686mm) scale feeds into an FX Edge III-8 bridge with 10.8mm string spacing. Both pickup positions are loaded with Lundgren Model M8P passive ceramic humbuckers. Hardware throughout is finished in black. The guitar left the factory tuned to F–A#–D#–G#–C#–F#–A#–D# low to high, strung with a .009–.074 set across its eight strings.
Owners requiring setup work, fret service, or help sourcing replacement parts for the FX Edge III-8 system or the Lundgren pickups should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with extended-range instruments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
