Ibanez built the SRMD200BKF as part of the SR Mezzo series, positioning it as a medium-scale electric bass within the broader SR family. The 32-inch scale placed it between full-scale and short-scale instruments, making it a distinct option within the lineup for players seeking a more compact reach without moving to a short-scale design.
The SRMD200BKF was constructed with a poplar body and a maple neck paired with a maple fretboard carrying black dot inlays. Twenty-two medium frets ran the length of the board, which measured 38mm at the nut and 62mm at the 22nd fret, with a 305mm radius. Neck thickness measured 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the twelfth. Pickup duties were handled by a passive Dynamix P at the neck and a passive Dynamix J at the bridge, fed through an Ibanez Custom Electronics 2-band EQ. The B10 bridge offered 19mm string spacing, and hardware throughout was finished in chrome. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL165s (.045/.065/.085/.105) in standard E-A-D-G tuning.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — strings, bridge saddles, nut stock, or pickup covers — should verify compatibility against the dimensions listed in the specs. A qualified guitar technician or luthier can assist with setup adjustments and parts fit specific to the 32-inch scale and neck profile of this instrument.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
