Ibanez built the SRMD200CAM as part of the SR Mezzo series, a line positioned around a medium 32-inch scale length — shorter than a standard long-scale bass but longer than a short-scale instrument. It sat in the entry-to-mid tier of the SR family, carrying the SR's characteristic slim neck profile into a more compact format intended for players who found a full 34-inch scale demanding.
The bass was constructed with a poplar body and a maple neck bearing a maple fretboard with black dot inlays, 22 medium frets, and a 305mm radius. Nut width measures 38mm, widening to 62mm at the 22nd fret; neck thickness runs 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the 12th. The 38mm plastic nut feeds into a 32-inch / 812mm scale with 19mm string spacing at the B10 bridge. Electronics comprised a passive Dynamix P neck pickup and a passive Dynamix J bridge pickup, routed through Ibanez's own 2-band EQ. Hardware throughout is chrome. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL165s (.045/.065/.085/.105) in standard E–A–D–G tuning.
Owners requiring replacement parts should note that the B10 bridge accepts standard 19mm-spaced components, the P/J pickup configuration is a widely supported format, and the 32-inch scale length is a relevant parameter when sourcing replacement strings or a setup.
