Ibanez produced the GSR206BK as a six-string entry in the GSR sub-line of its broader SR Series electric bass range. The model was positioned as an accessible multi-string bass, extending the SR Series platform to players seeking extended range at the GSR tier.
The GSR206BK was built on a poplar body paired with a maple neck designated GSR6, carrying a jatoba fretboard with white dot inlays and medium frets. The neck profile measured 54mm at the nut, widening to 84mm at the 22nd fret, with a 21mm thickness at the first fret and 22mm at the twelfth, over a 400mm radius. String spacing at the B16 bridge sits at 16.5mm across a 34-inch / 864mm scale. Passive Dynamix H pickups occupy the neck and bridge positions, routed through Ibanez's Phat II EQ. All hardware is finished in chrome. The finish on this variant is black.
Owners tracing compatible replacement parts — particularly for the B16 bridge, Dynamix H pickups, or the Phat II EQ circuit — or requiring setup work on the neck or fretboard should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier familiar with multi-string bass instruments.

What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
