Description

Ibanez positioned the SR1100BSFM within the SR Premium Series, placing it above the standard SR line with upgraded hardware, tonewoods and electronics selected for players seeking professional-grade appointments at a sub-flagship tier. The model carried a four-string configuration in a Sea Foam Green Matte finish.

The neck was constructed from a five-piece Roasted Maple and Purpleheart laminate under the Atlas-4 designation, stabilised with KTS TITANIUM rods, and carried a Roasted Birdseye Maple fretboard with abalone oval inlays across 24 medium frets with Premium fret edge treatment. The African Mahogany body anchored an MR5S bridge set at 19mm string spacing. Pickup duties fell to a pair of passive Nordstrand Big Single units at neck and bridge positions, fed into Ibanez Custom Electronics' 3-band EQ with an EQ bypass switch — the treble pot doubling as a passive tone control in bypass mode — and a 3-way mid-frequency selector switch. The Graph Tech BLACK TUSQ XL nut measured 38mm at width, with the neck tapering to 62mm at the 24th fret. Thickness ran 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the twelfth, over a 305mm radius fretboard and a 34-inch scale. All hardware was finished in black. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL165 strings gauged .045/.065/.085/.105 in standard E tuning.

Owners sourcing replacement parts — particularly the Nordstrand Big Single pickups, Graph Tech BLACK TUSQ XL nut, or MR5S bridge components — should confirm exact dimensions against their instrument before ordering, and consult a qualified guitar technician for setup, intonation or any wiring work involving the EQ bypass circuit.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
