Ibanez built the EHB1005MSSFM as part of the EHB Workshop Series, a multiscale electric bass line positioned around an ergonomic, headless format. The instrument carried a five-string configuration and was finished in Sea Foam Green Matte.
The body was constructed from American Basswood, paired with a five-piece Roasted Maple and Walnut neck reinforced with graphite rods. The roasted Birdseye Maple fretboard featured abalone offset dot inlays and carried 24 medium Stainless Steel frets across a 500mm radius. The multiscale design ran a 889mm bass-side to 838mm treble-side scale length. Nut width measured 45mm, widening to 74mm at the 24th fret, with neck thickness of 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the twelfth. String spacing at the bridge was 18mm. Passive Bartolini BH2 pickups occupied both neck and bridge positions, feeding into a Vari-mid 3-band EQ with an EQ bypass switch; the treble pot doubled as a passive tone control in bypass mode. Hardware throughout was finished in black, and the instrument shipped strung with D'Addario EXL170-5SL strings gauged .045/.065/.080/.100/.130 in standard five-string tuning B through G.
