Ibanez built the EHB1000PWM as part of the EHB Workshop Series, a line positioned around the headless bass format with an emphasis on passive pickup configurations paired with active EQ options. The model carried the Pearl White Matte finish and sat within the broader EHB range alongside variants in other finishes.
The bass was constructed with an American Basswood body and a five-piece Roasted Maple/Walnut neck of the EHB4 profile, reinforced with graphite rods. The fretboard was Roasted Birdseye Maple, fitted with abalone off-set dot inlays and 24 medium Stainless Steel frets over a 500mm radius. The nut width measured 41mm, widening to 64mm at the 24th fret, with neck thickness running 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the twelfth. Scale length was 864mm (34 inches). Bartolini BH2 passive pickups occupied both the neck and bridge positions, feeding into a Vari-mid 3-band EQ with an EQ bypass switch; the treble pot doubled as a passive tone control when the EQ was bypassed. The MR5HS bridge was set to a 19mm string spacing, and all hardware was finished in black. The instrument left the factory tuned 1G, 2D, 3A, 4E and strung with D'Addario EXL165s in a .045/.065/.085/.105 gauge.
Owners sourcing replacement frets, nut blanks, or Bartolini-compatible electronics should verify measurements against the figures above before ordering; a qualified luthier or bass technician can assist with setup, fret work, or EQ circuit service.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
