Washburn built the EA20 as part of its Festival Series, positioning the guitar as an acoustic-electric instrument suited to players who required amplified performance capability alongside acoustic playability. The model featured a Mini Jumbo Cutaway body shape, placing it in a segment of the Festival range oriented toward stage use and upper-register access.
The EA20 was constructed with a Spruce top supported by Quarter Sawn Scalloped Sitka Spruce bracing, with Flame Maple back and sides and a Maple neck fitted with a two-way truss rod. The Rosewood fretboard ran to 21 frets, with dot inlays throughout. Nut duties were handled by a Graphtech Nubone unit at 43mm width, and scale length measured 25.5 inches. An Abalone rosette decorated the soundhole surround. Electronics centred on the EQ4T preamp system, while hardware comprised a Rosewood bridge and Chrome Diecast tuners. The guitar shipped strung with D'Addario EXP-16 light phosphor bronze strings.
