Washburn built the EA20-A-U as part of its Festival Series, a line the company designed to address the needs of performing musicians. The Festival Series established itself as the acoustic-electric seen on MTV's Unplugged series and went on to become one of the brand's most widely recognised and widely copied designs. The EA20-A-U features a Florentine cutaway body in a gloss Natural finish.
The guitar is constructed with a spruce top braced with quarter-sawn scalloped Sitka spruce bracing, with flame maple back and sides and a maple neck fitted with a two-way truss rod. The fretboard is engineered wood carrying dot inlays across 20 frets, with a 25-1/2" scale length and a 1-11/16" Graphtech Nubone nut. Electronics are handled by the Barcus-Berry EQ4T preamp system, with controls for volume, bass, mid, treble, notch, and presence, plus a built-in tuner. Hardware throughout is chrome, including diecast tuners and an alternative-style bridge. The rosette is faux-abalone. The guitar ships strung with D'Addario EXP-16 light phosphor bronze strings.
Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the Graphtech Nubone nut, Barcus-Berry EQ4T preamp, and chrome diecast tuners are all discrete components with their own specifications; a qualified guitar technician or luthier can advise on compatible replacements and assist with setup.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
