Ibanez positioned the PNB14EOPN as a parlor-format acoustic-electric bass, part of the PNB series. The parlor body configuration placed it toward the compact end of the acoustic bass category, intended for players who prioritised portability without moving entirely away from an acoustic platform.
The body, top, back and sides were all constructed from Okoume, paired with a maple neck. The fretboard and bridge were Laurel, with an 18-fret layout, a 628.65mm scale, and a 43mm plastic nut. String spacing at the bridge measured 19mm, and the instrument shipped strung with D'Addario EXPPBB190GS strings gauged .037/.050/.062/.090 in standard E-A-D-G tuning. The Black & White multi-layer soundhole rosette and black bridge pins with white dot inlay matched the white dot fretboard inlay. Electronics comprised an Ibanez Undersaddle pickup feeding an Ibanez AEQ-2T preamp with onboard tuner, outputting via a standard 1/4" jack. Tuning machines were chrome die-cast. The finish was open pore natural.
Owners requiring setup work, nut or saddle replacement, or guidance on compatible undersaddle pickup replacements should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier familiar with acoustic bass instruments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
