- Finish
- Open Pore Natural
Ibanez built the PCBE12MHOPN as a Grand Concert acoustic bass guitar, positioning it within the Performer Bass series as an electro-acoustic four-string instrument finished in Open Pore Natural. The Open Pore Natural finish leaves the wood surface without a heavy topcoat, allowing the grain of the Okoume to remain tactile and visually present.
The body pairs an Okoume top with Okoume back and sides, routed with a tortoiseshell soundhole rosette. The PCBE profile Maple neck carries a Laurel fretboard with 20 frets, white dot inlays, a 43mm plastic nut, and a 400mm radius. String spacing at the bridge measures 19mm, and the Laurel bridge is fitted with black bridge pins with white dot detail and a plastic saddle. Chrome die-cast tuners handle machine-head duties. Electronics consist of an Ibanez undersaddle pickup feeding an Ibanez AEQ-2T preamp with onboard tuner, with output via a standard 1/4" jack. The instrument ships strung with Ibanez IABS4XC32 Carbon coated strings gauged .040/.060/.075/.095, tuned 1G–2D–3A–4E at an 810mm scale length.
Owners requiring setup adjustments, nut or saddle replacements, or advice on compatible undersaddle pickup substitutes should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier familiar with acoustic bass instruments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
