Ibanez produced the PF2MHOPN as part of its PF Series — a line positioned around accessible, full-featured acoustics built to a defined specification. The PF2MHOPN was distinguished within the series by its 3/4-size dreadnought body and an open pore natural finish, the latter leaving the wood surface without a heavy lacquer build-up.
The body was constructed with a sapele top, back, and sides. The neck — designated PF/Nyatoh in Ibanez documentation — carried a nandu wood fretboard and matching nandu wood bridge, with white dot inlays along the board. The nut measured 42mm wide and was made of plastic, as was the saddle. Fret count was 20. The scale length ran 580mm, with a neck thickness of 20mm at the first fret and 21mm at the seventh fret; fingerboard radius was 250mmR. The body measured 15½" in length with a maximum depth of 3¾". Tuning was handled by chrome covered tuners. Ibanez Advantage bridge pins were fitted as standard, and the guitar shipped strung with Ibanez IACS6C strings gauged .012/.016/.024/.032/.042/.053 at standard tuning. The soundhole rosette was a black and white multi-layer binding.
