Ibanez built the PF12MHCEOPN as part of its PF Series, positioning it as a cutaway dreadnought acoustic-electric with an open pore natural finish. The model sat within a line designed to offer amplified acoustic performance in a familiar full-body format.
The body was constructed with a sapele top, back, and sides, paired with a Nyatoh neck. The fretboard and bridge were fashioned from Nandu wood, with white dot inlays marking the fretboard positions and a tortoiseshell soundhole rosette providing visual detail. Hardware included chrome open gear tuners, plastic nut and saddle, and Ibanez Advantage bridge pins. Electronically, the guitar carried an Ibanez undersaddle pickup routed through an Ibanez AEQ-2T preamp with an onboard tuner. The neck measured 42mm at the nut, with a 250mm radius fretboard, 21.5mm depth at the first fret, and 23.5mm at the seventh. Scale length was 650mm across 20 frets. The guitar shipped strung with Ibanez IACS6C strings gauged .012/.016/.024/.032/.042/.053 and set to standard E-to-E tuning.
