Ibanez built the PF15ECETBS as part of the PF Series — a line of acoustic-electric guitars positioned as accessible, playable instruments. The model featured a cutaway dreadnought body in a Transparent Blue Sunburst High Gloss finish, paired with onboard electronics for amplified use.
The body was constructed with a spruce top over Nyatoh back and sides. The neck, also Nyatoh, carried a Nandu Wood fretboard and bridge, with white dot inlays across 20 frets. A plastic nut at 42mm width and plastic saddle sat at either end of the 650mm scale length. Tuning was handled by chrome die-cast tuners. Electronics consisted of an Ibanez Undersaddle pickup routed through an Ibanez AEQ-2T preamp with onboard tuner, outputting via a standard 1/4" jack. Factory string gauge ran .012/.016/.024/.032/.042/.053 with 11mm string spacing, and the guitar shipped in standard E-A-D-G-B-E tuning.
