- Finish
- Indigo Blue Metallic High Gloss
Ibanez built the ALT30IBM as part of the Altstar Series, positioning it as an acoustic-electric with a purpose-designed body profile that departed from conventional dreadnought or auditorium templates. The model carried an Indigo Blue Metallic High Gloss finish and was equipped with onboard electronics, placing it at the amplified end of the Altstar range.
The body paired a spruce top with sapele back and sides. The neck, also following the Altstar profile, used maple and was fitted with a walnut fretboard and walnut bridge. Nut and saddle were plastic, with Ibanez Advantage bridge pins. The chrome die-cast tuners handled tuning stability, while the fretboard ran to 22 frets at a 648 mm scale. Nut width measured 43 mm, with neck thickness of 20 mm at the first fret and 21 mm at the seventh; fretboard radius was 400 mm. Electronics consisted of an Ibanez undersaddle pickup routed through an AEQ2UT preamp with an onboard tuner, outputting via a standard 1/4" jack. The guitar shipped strung with Ibanez IACS61C strings gauged .010/.014/.023/.030/.039/.047 at standard tuning.
Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the walnut bridge is sized to accept Ibanez Advantage pins, and the undersaddle pickup is matched to the AEQ2UT preamp system; a qualified guitar technician can advise on compatible substitutes if original components are no longer obtainable.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
