- AEW Series
Ibanez positioned the AEWC400IBB within the AEW Series as an electro-acoustic instrument built around the AEWC specially designed comfort body — a format Ibanez developed to ease playability relative to conventional dreadnought or jumbo proportions. The Indigo Blue Burst High Gloss finish identifies this particular colour variant within the AEWC400 range.
The body is constructed entirely from Flamed Maple — top, back, and sides — paired with a Walnut fretboard and Ibanez's AEWC original top-loading Walnut bridge. The neck is the AEWC Asymmetric comfort profile in Nyatoh. Fretting runs to 20 frets, with off-set white dot inlays and an Abalone soundhole rosette. The nut width measures 43mm and saddle-to-nut scale is 634mm. Neck dimensions at the first fret measure 20mm in thickness, rising to 21mm at the seventh, with a 400mmR radius and 11mm string spacing at the bridge. Chrome die-cast tuners with black knobs handle tuning duties. Electronics consist of a Fishman Sonicore undersaddle pickup feeding an Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp with onboard tuner; output options include both a balanced XLR and a standard 1/4" jack. The guitar ships strung with Ibanez IACS6C strings in a .012–.053 gauged set, tuned to standard E.
Owners seeking setup adjustments, replacement saddles, nuts, or tuner hardware compatible with this instrument should consult a qualified guitar technician, who will be able to cross-reference the stated dimensions and hardware specifications against available replacement parts.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
