Ibanez positioned the ALT30NNB within the Altstar Series, a line built around the proprietary Altstar body shape — a departure from conventional acoustic proportions designed to offer a distinct playing feel and tonal profile. The guitar carried an Ibanez Undersaddle pickup paired with the AEQ2UT preamp, placing it firmly in the electro-acoustic segment of the range.
The top is spruce, with sapele used for both back and sides. The Altstar neck is maple, capped with a walnut fretboard and matched by a walnut bridge. The nut and saddle are plastic, and Ibanez Advantage bridge pins are fitted at the factory. Tuning is handled by chrome die-cast tuners. The fretboard carries Altstar specially designed inlays and runs to 22 frets. Scale length is 648mm, with a nut width of 43mm and a fretboard radius of 400mmR. Neck thickness measures 20mm at the first fret and 21mm at the seventh. The body length is 18⅛ inches, width 14½ inches, and maximum depth 4⅜ inches. String spacing at the bridge is 10.5mm. The guitar left the factory strung with Ibanez IACS61C strings gauged .010/.014/.023/.030/.039/.047 in standard E–A–D–G–B–E tuning. The onboard AEQ2UT preamp includes an integrated tuner, with output via a standard ¼-inch jack.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — including a new saddle, nut, bridge pins, or tuner buttons — or requiring setup adjustments should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with acoustic-electric instruments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
