- Finish
- Transparent Charcoal Burst High Gloss
Ibanez built the AEG70TCH as part of its AEG Series, a line of thinline acoustic-electric guitars designed around a compact, stage-friendly body. The model carried a Transparent Charcoal Burst High Gloss finish and sat within the AEG family's focus on amplified acoustic performance.
The body paired a Flamed Maple top with Sapele back and sides. The neck, described as an AEG/Nyatoh profile, carried a Walnut fretboard with white dot inlays, a 43mm plastic nut, and a 634mm scale length. Fret count stood at 20. Hardware included Chrome Die-cast tuners, a Walnut bridge with Ibanez Advantage bridge pins, and a plastic saddle. Electronics consisted of an Ibanez T-bar II undersaddle pickup feeding an Ibanez AEQ-TTS preamp with an onboard tuner, with output via a 1/4" jack. The guitar shipped strung with Ibanez IACSP6C strings gauged .012/.016/.024/.032/.042/.053 and set to standard E-to-E factory tuning. Neck dimensions measured 20mm thick at the first fret and 21mm at the seventh, with a 400mmR fretboard radius and 11mm string spacing at the saddle.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — including saddle, nut, bridge pins, tuner buttons or undersaddle pickup elements — should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier, who can verify fit against the instrument's actual dimensions before installation.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
