Cort built the EARTH70-OP as part of its Earth Series, a line positioned as the brand's homage to vintage acoustic guitars. The series aimed to capture the look, sound, feel, and playability of those instruments, and the EARTH70 sat within that line as a dreadnought-body flattop suited to both flatpicking and fingerstyle players.
The guitar is built around a solid spruce top with advanced scalloped X-bracing and African mahogany (Okoume) back and sides — a construction pairing consistent with the Earth Series' use of time-tested classic materials. The mahogany (Palaquium) neck joins the body via a dovetail neck joint and carries an Ovangkol fretboard and bridge, 20 frets, white dot inlays, a multiple rosette, and ivory body binding. The nut width measures 43mm (1 11/16") and the scale length 643mm (25.3"). The guitar ships strung with D'Addario EXP16 strings. The EARTH70-OP was also available in a left-handed configuration and as a 12-string variant. The open pore finish is indicated by the OP suffix in the model designation.
