Washburn built the WD7SCE-O-U as the acoustic-electric companion to the D7S within the Harvest Series, sharing the same solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides pairing. The cutaway dreadnought body allowed access to the upper register of the fretboard, and the gloss finish was applied to the body. The satin-finished mahogany neck carried a two-way truss rod.
Quarter-sawn scalloped Sitka spruce bracing supported the solid spruce top. Ovangkol was used for both the bridge and fretboard, with dot inlays across 20 frets. The nut was ABS at 1-11/16" width, the scale length ran 25-1/2", and chrome diecast tuners handled tuning. Washburn's Heritage rosette completed the top. Electronics were handled by the Barcus-Berry EQ4T preamp system, offering a four-band EQ, built-in chromatic tuner, phase switch, and a notch dial for feedback control when amplified. Controls consisted of volume, bass, treble, and phase. The guitar shipped strung with D'Addario EXP-16 light phosphor bronze strings.
