Washburn built the BTS24S-D-U as part of the Bella Tono Series, positioning it as a feature-laden acoustic within that line under the Elegante designation. The Studio body shape was designed to deliver a comfortable playing experience while producing tight lows, focused mids, and clear highs typically associated with larger body sizes.
The soundboard is solid spruce, braced with quarter-sawn scalloped bracing. Back and sides are select Pau Ferro. Ornamentation is extensive: an abalone rosette, abalone purfling with a Padauk highlight, and Ebony binding frame the top. The Mahogany neck carries a modern C profile with a satin finish and meets an Ebony fretboard inlaid with an abalone scene depicting mountains and birds in flight across 20 frets. The 25-1/2" scale length runs to an Ebony bridge, and the headstock is fitted with diecast gold tuners. Strings from the factory are D'Addario.
Owners sourcing a replacement bridge saddle or nut should verify the existing slot dimensions before ordering; the Ebony fretboard and bridge will respond well to conditioning with appropriate fretboard oils — consult a qualified luthier for guidance on abrasive polishing around the abalone inlays, as the inlay material requires care to avoid damage during routine maintenance.
