Washburn built the BTS9VCECH-D-U as part of the Bella Tono series, positioning it as a cutaway variant of the S9 within the Studio body shape lineup. It shared the S9's gloss charcoal burst finish and figured walnut back and sides, while adding a cutaway body design and an onboard pickup system for amplified use.
The top is select spruce over select figured walnut back and sides, with quarter-sawn scalloped bracing and a Washburn Bella Tono rosette. The okoume neck carries a modern C profile with a satin finish and meets an ebony fretboard dressed with 20 frets and an exotic-wood vine inlay pattern. Scale length is 25-1/2". Hardware throughout is black, including die cast tuners and an ebony bridge. The Barcus Berry LX4 preamp system handles amplified output. Strings fitted were D'Addario.
Owners needing setup work, fret service, or help sourcing compatible ebony bridge saddles, Barcus Berry LX4 replacement components, or die cast tuner equivalents should consult a qualified luthier or guitar technician familiar with acoustic-electric instruments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
