Description

Schecter built the Synyster Gates FR-S USA Signature as a domestically produced, artist-specification instrument centred on the playing and tonal requirements of Avenged Sevenfold's lead guitarist. The model sat at the top of Schecter's Synyster Gates signature range, distinguished from import counterparts by its USA country of origin and the inclusion of a Sustainiac sustainer system at the neck position alongside a Floyd Rose Original tremolo at the bridge.

The set-neck construction joins a mahogany neck in a Custom Syn C profile — measuring .785" at the first fret and .835" at the twelfth — to a mahogany body capped with a multi-laminate Hardrock Maple top featuring Black Walnut pinstripes. The fretboard is Macassar Ebony, carrying 24 Jescar Premium German Silver frets over a 16" radius and a 1.25" nut width, with Custom Syn inlays throughout. A Floyd Rose Original tremolo handles pitch articulation at the bridge, anchored by Schecter/Hipshot Staggered Locking Tuners at the headstock. The HH pickup configuration pairs a Schecter Synyster Gates Signature engraved humbucker at the bridge with a Sustainiac at the neck, governed by a master volume, master tone, 3-way pickup toggle, 2-way on/off sustain switch, and a 3-way harmonic control switch. All hardware is finished in black.

Owners sourcing replacement parts — particularly Floyd Rose Original components, Sustainiac service parts, or Jescar German Silver fretwire — should consult a qualified guitar technician to confirm compatibility with the instrument's specific configuration before fitting.

The owner archive

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
