Schecter built the PT Special (item 665) as part of its PT line, positioning the model as a single-pickup-style, bolt-on instrument aimed at players seeking a traditional-format electric with upgraded hardware and pickup choices. The South Korea–manufactured guitar carried a 3-Tone Sunburst Pearl finish over a Swamp Ash body with Creme 1-ply binding and a Flat Top contour.
The maple neck, finished with a C' profile and bolted to the body, carries a maple fretboard with Black Dot inlays, a 25.5" (648mm) scale, and 22 X-Jumbo frets over a 12" (305mm) radius. Nut duties fall to a Graph Tech XL Ivory Tusq piece at 1.653" (42mm) wide, and the 2-Way Adjustable truss rod is accessed via a 5/32" (4mm) Allen key. Grover Vintage tuners handle stringing, while the Vintage Ashtray bridge with Staggered Brass Saddles anchors the strings at the body. Electronics consist of a Schecter Diamond VT-1 at the bridge and a Schecter Diamond V-90 at the neck, routed through a Volume, a Tone with Series-Parallel Push-Pull function, and a 3-Way Switch. All hardware is finished in Nickel. Metal Knurled knobs with set screws and Ernie Ball Regular Slinky (.010–.046) strings completed the factory specification.
Owners seeking replacement saddles, Graph Tech Tusq nut blanks, Grover Vintage-series tuner replacements, or pickup substitutes should verify part compatibility against the dimensions above; a qualified guitar technician can confirm correct fit and perform setup adjustments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
