Schecter positioned the CV-5 (item 2494) as a five-string electric bass within its CV line, built in Indonesia with a bolt-on maple neck reinforced by carbon fiber rods and an ash body finished in 3-Tone Sunburst. The 6-bolt neck joint and Thin 'C' profile neck were central to the model's construction.
The CV-5 ran a 35-inch scale on a maple fretboard with a 10-inch radius, offset dot inlays, and 22 narrow X-Jumbo frets. The nut is a Graph Tech XL Ivory Tusq at 1.771 inches wide, fed by a 2-way adjustable truss rod accessible at the heel with a 5/32-inch Allen key. Both neck and bridge positions carried Schecter Diamond J-Bucker pickups, wired through a volume control, tone control, 3-way pickup selector switch, and individual 3-way series-split-parallel switches for each pickup — giving the player a wide range of coil configurations. Hardware throughout is chrome, the bridge is an S-Tek unit, and tuners are Schecter Light-Weight. Schecter strung the bass from the factory with Ernie Ball 5 String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130).
