The Schecter 6519 Pasadena Bass VJ Pickup Set replaces worn or inadequate pickups on a bass guitar where the original character — punch, midrange scoop, definition — has been lost. The set uses Alnico V rod magnets, hand beveled by hand before assembly. Output measures 9.0k ohms. The neck pickup is reverse-wound and reverse-polarity relative to the bridge, so hum cancels when both pickups are on together. Wiring is a 2-conductor cloth-covered pushback harness.

Two things decide whether this set fits your bass: pole spacing and string count. This set is specified at Universal Spacing, which covers most standard 4-string bass routes, but bridge routes and neck routes are not always the same width — a pickup sized for the neck position can leave outer strings sitting off the pole pieces if dropped into a bridge route. This is also a 6-string set by pole count, with 8 hand beveled rod magnets across both pickups. Seven- and eight-string basses use different pickup formats. Check your existing route dimensions and your mounting hardware before ordering — direct-mount bodies and ring-mount bodies need different hardware and are not interchangeable.

The bobbins are built on vulcanized fiber, consistent with the original format these pickups are modelled on. That construction keeps the resonance and response characteristic of the design rather than shifting it toward a modern ceramic voicing.
