Schecter built the JD Deservio Bass as a signature instrument for Black Label Society bassist JD Deservio, positioning it within the neck-through construction tier of their bass line. The model carried item number 49 and was manufactured in South Korea. The guitar color shown is Gloss Black with a "BLS" Distressed Flag finish.
The bass was constructed neck-through with Ultra Access geometry, the neck itself laminated from maple and walnut multi-ply stock in a Thin 'C' profile. The 34-inch scale fretboard is ebony, radiused at 16 inches, and carries 24 X-Jumbo frets alongside a JD Design inlay at the 12th fret. The nut is a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq unit at 42mm width, with a 2-way adjustable truss rod accessed via a 5/32-inch Allen nut. The mahogany body pairs with a Hipshot 'A' Style bridge that accommodates both string-through-body and top-load stringing. Electronics consist of two EMG 35HZ pickups running through an 18-volt battery compartment, controlled by a master volume, blend, and 3-band EMG active EQ. Hardware throughout is finished in black chrome, with Grover tuners and metal knurled knobs with set screws. Strings fitted at time of production were Ernie Ball 4-String Super Long #2849 (.045–.105).
