Schecter built the dUg Pinnick Baron-H as a signature bass for dUg Pinnick, the bassist of King's X, positioning it within the company's artist signature line. The instrument was configured as a four-string bass with a bolt-on construction and a flat-top mahogany body finished in Gloss Black with creme 1-ply binding.
The maple neck carries a Thin 'C' profile — measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth — and is fitted with a rosewood fretboard bearing 22 X-Jumbo frets on a 16" (406mm) radius. The 35" (889mm) scale length is paired with a 1.496" (38mm) Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut and a 2-way adjustable truss rod adjusted via a 5/32" (4mm) Allen nut. Creme dot inlays run the fretboard, with a custom "dUg" inlay at the 12th fret. A single Seymour Duncan Pro Active APB-1 pickup at the bridge feeds a simple Volume-only control circuit powered by a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment. The WSC THD4 bass bridge and Grover Vintage Bass 142 Series tuners complete the hardware suite, all finished in chrome. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball 4 String Super Long #2849 (.045–.105) strings.
