Schecter built the DJ Ashba Acoustic as a signature instrument for the guitarist of the same name, positioning it within their acoustic line as a player-focused model with an electro-acoustic feature set. It featured a dovetail set-neck construction joining a mahogany body to a solid spruce flat top, finished in satin white with black hardware and black single-ply binding.
The maple neck carried a thin 'C' profile with a 25.5" (648mm) scale length and a 16" (406mm) radius ebony fretboard fitted with 22 narrow X-jumbo frets. Nut material was bone at 1.693" (43mm) width. Tuning was handled by Grover Rotomatic 18:1 machines. The signature "Birds on a Wire" inlays ran along the fretboard. Electronics consisted of a Fishman Sonicore piezo bridge pickup feeding a Fishman Isys+ preamp, which provided volume control, an on-board tuner, bass, treble, and a phase switch; the battery compartment doubled as the output jack housing. The truss rod was a two-way adjustable unit accessed via a 5/32" (4mm) Allen nut.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — including the bone nut, Grover Rotomatic tuners, or Fishman Isys+ preamp components — should confirm compatibility against the specific hardware installed on their instrument. A qualified luthier or guitar technician can assist with setup, nut replacement, or electronics servicing.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
