Schecter built the Nick Johnston Traditional as a signature model for guitarist Nick Johnston, positioning it within the company's Traditional series as a specification-forward instrument oriented toward players who prioritized a vintage-influenced layout with modern refinements. It carried a bolt-on construction on an alder body, with a roasted maple neck and ebony fretboard.
The neck was cut to a Thin 'C' profile, measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth, with a 14" (355mm) fretboard radius and 22 X-Jumbo frets across a 25.5" (648mm) scale. The nut was a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq unit at 1.653" (42mm) width, and the truss rod featured two-way adjustment via a heel-access spoke wheel. Brass circle inlays marked the ebony board. A Diamond Vintage Tremolo handled pitch variation, controlled through a Volume/Tone/5-Way Switch arrangement, while three Schecter Diamond Nick Johnston single-coil pickups occupied all three positions. Schecter locking tuners and chrome hardware completed the specification. The instrument shipped with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky strings (.010–.046). The Atomic Snow finish was the color variant on this record.
