Schecter built the Nick Johnston Traditional as a signature instrument for the Canadian guitarist, positioning it within the company's artist series as a traditionally-styled electric guitar with a bolt-on construction and a flat-top alder body. The model carried the item number 274 and was offered in Atomic Coral with chrome hardware.
The neck is roasted maple with a Thin 'C' profile, measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth, and it is capped with an ebony fretboard bearing brass circle inlays. The 25.5" (648mm) scale length accommodates 22 X-Jumbo frets on a 14" (355mm) radius board. At the nut, a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq unit measures 1.653" (42mm) wide. The truss rod is a two-way adjustable design with heel-access spoke wheel. A Diamond Vintage Tremolo bridge pairs with three Schecter Diamond Nick Johnston single-coil pickups — one at the bridge, one in the middle position, and one at the neck — controlled via a Volume control, a Tone control, and a 5-way selector switch with vintage-style knobs. Schecter locking tuners are fitted from the factory, and the instrument ships strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky .010–.046 strings. A case is sold separately.
