Schecter positioned the C-1 Exotic Ebony within its C-1 series as a premium bolt-on electric guitar, distinguished by its figured ebony top and multi-species neck construction. It was manufactured in Indonesia and offered in a Natural Satin finish that allowed the ebony top to remain the visual centrepiece.
The body is mahogany, capped with an arched ebony top and bound in black multi-ply binding. The bolt-on neck is roasted maple and purpleheart in a multi-ply configuration, reinforced with carbon fibre rods and shaped to a Thin 'C' profile measuring .748" at the first fret and .787" at the twelfth. The 25.5" scale ebony fretboard carries 24 X-Jumbo frets on a 14" radius, with an Abalone and Pearloid Vine of Life inlay pattern. Nut duties are handled by a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq unit at 1.653" width, and tuning is managed by Schecter Locking tuners. The bridge is a Wilkinson WVS50IIK tremolo. Pickups are a Schecter Diamond '78 Special at the bridge and a Schecter Diamond '78 at the neck, wired to a volume control, tone control, 3-way pickup selector, and a 2-way coil split toggle switch. Hardware is finished in a combination of black and chrome. The instrument ships strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky .010–.046 strings; a case is sold separately.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — including tremolo components, Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nuts, or Schecter Locking tuner hardware — should consult a qualified guitar technician to confirm fit against their specific instrument before installation.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
